The fall protection stops and prevents falls, but can also be used to lower and lift a person when working in, among other things, silos or wells. Fall protection equipment must be used when proper, safe work cannot be carried out, planned or organised. Get a handle on safety with fall protection equipment

Getting a handle on safety is essential, especially when work is carried out at height, and this is where fall protection comes into play. Fall protection equipment is designed to minimize the risk of fall accidents and create a safe working environment where you can perform tasks with confidence and peace of mind. Important elements in fall protection include safety lines, harnesses and helmets.

Braces can be found with padding on the back, shoulders and thighs as well as with good functions such as belts for fastening. Be sure to choose a harness that is appropriate for your weight.

Safety lines, also known as ropes, ropes or harness lines, are securely attached to the worker's harness and connected to a fixed point, providing reliable support and preventing falls. It is important that the harness has the correct fit, and the adjustment of the harness is essential to obtain optimal fall protection.

Carabiners can be used to connect safety lines, harnesses and other elements.

Helmets aren't just for protection against falling objects; they also play an important role in protecting the head from impacts and head injuries.

Rules for fall protection

1. Use fall protection if there is a risk of falling
For tasks with a risk of falling or work at a height of more than 2 meters on a flat work area, it is mandatory to use fall protection equipment.

2. Consider each and every work task
Plan the work with fall protection equipment by taking into account both physical and psychological stresses and disadvantages of the equipment.

3. Check that the anchoring point can hold up to 1200 kg
Make sure the anchor point can handle a pull of at least 1,200 kg and place it above head height as far as possible.

4. Include your own height in the drop length
When using fall arresters, it is important to calculate the required clearance. Here, your own height must be counted.

5. Guidance and testing before use
Before use, there must be thorough guidance and testing of fall protection equipment to avoid serious injuries. It is the top management in the company that is responsible for ensuring that the fall protection is in order.

6. Prepare an evacuation plan
It is important that a rescue and evacuation plan is drawn up when using fall protection equipment. The plan must ensure that a person who has fallen and is hanging from the safety harness does not experience hanging trauma. It can lead to blood clots if you hang for longer than 30 minutes.

7. Choose the correct equipment
Know your weight to choose fall protection equipment that fits the maximum user weight specified in the product's user manual.

8. Note when the equipment is put into use for the first time
Record date of first use, serial number and date of manufacture on first use.

9. The equipment must be inspected after a fall
After a fall, the equipment must not be reused; harnesses and products with webbing or rope must be discarded, and other safety equipment must be sent for inspection at an authorized workshop.

10. Annual inspection of fall protection equipment
Fall protection equipment must be inspected annually by a person with a valid certificate for the visual inspection of fall protection equipment.
