Drainage of roof surfaces with shoe gutters
Scotch gutters are installed between two adjacent roof surfaces, for example on an angle building or a gable, and ensure that the roof is kept tight at the joint. When it rains, snow gutters collect the water and direct it towards downpipes that transport it down to the drainage system on the ground. Gutters prevent water from standing still on the roof and protect the building from leaks, water damage and other problems.

Sealing shoe grooves
Sealing the gutters is essential to ensure that the drainage system works optimally and effectively directs the rainwater away from the roof. In addition, the sealing of the snow gutters ensures that insects, small animals, snow and rain cannot penetrate under the snow gutter and further into the building.
Construction of a sled gutter - how to install it?
It is important to ensure that the construction of a screed is done correctly for optimum performance and longevity.
- First of all, the assembly requires a solid base of either boards or plywood. This substrate forms the base where the snow gutter will be attached.
- The preparation begins with laying a layer of base on the solid surface. It creates a waterproof barrier and ensures a reliable seal between the gutter and the roof.
- The gutter is then cut to the gutter. A 10 mm tab is bent into the gutter for additional waterproofing.
- The gutter profile is fixed at the bottom of the edge batten using a 1"/25 mm aluminum nail with a sealing washer.
- At the top of the skirting board, nails are nailed through blind seams to ensure a stable and reliable attachment. For slopes of less than 20°, it is recommended to grout with silicone grout in the overlay to strengthen the tightness.
- Each subsequent gutter profile is carefully pushed into the blind rebates with a distance of 2 mm from the bottom to allow room for expansion. The overlap between the profiles must be 200 mm to ensure efficient water drainage.
- At the tilt, the skid gutter can be trimmed with an overlay of at least 10 mm, which is bent over and sealed with elastic sealant. The bend is nailed with 1"/25mm aluminum nail with sealing washer to ensure a solid connection.
Construction of shoe trends - you need to be aware of that
It is important to note that shoelaces should not be placed directly on concrete or mortar. In that case, you should use plasterboard as a base for the gutter to ensure that the installation is carried out correctly.
